The journey from day one to ninety apps.

September 20, 2025: a new account, an empty repo list, six apps shipped in twenty-four hours. Eight months later, ninety. This is the issue that maps the climb — the false starts, the breakthroughs, the eras the studio names retrospectively. Vibe Designs writes about itself for the first time.

Vibe stepped into the Tank.

Shark Tank invited the Base44 Discord community to pitch a build — existing or brand new — to five moderator Sharks with 2,500 credits to invest. 161 builders entered. Every credit was deployed. Epoch Time Atlas finished first.

The win mattered because it was not just a leaderboard moment. It was a full community sprint: pitches from different niches, different levels of craft, and different ideas of what a Base44 build could be. Vibe spent time inside the showcase too — opening posts, testing apps, asking questions, commenting properly, and backing the room rather than only submitting to it.

The winning pitch was Epoch Time Atlas: a living atlas of civilisation that turns history into an explorable timeline of people, places, ideas, and events. A project about looking back, navigating the present, and protecting the future — exactly the kind of cinematic product surface this studio keeps returning to.

pp.012

Era 01 · The Rork year

Six apps before lunch.

September 20, 2025. The account had been live for thirty-six hours. Vibe spent the first day on Rork, the second on Rork, and by the third afternoon there were six apps in the GitHub feed: a memory-mastery app, an emergency-support tracker, a dialectic-research platform, a daily-protocol logger, a Mandarin tutor, and a habit tracker. None of them survived. All of them taught.

The pattern of these first apps would shape every era after. Memory. Health. Habit. The recurring obsession with learning systems would resurface in Mnemo, then Dialectica, then Mnemo Chinese, then Mnemonic Master — each one a different attempt at the same problem.

Rork itself was an experiment: an AI no-code platform that built mobile apps from a prompt. By March the apps would all be quietly archived. The point wasn't the apps — it was learning how to brief a system. Every prompt was rehearsal for what came next.

  • ·rork-beacon · emergency support
  • ·rork-healthoptimize · daily tracker

Era 02 · The Base44 crossing

Thirteen apps in a single day.

New Year's Day, 2026. Most studios were closed. Vibe published thirteen repositories in twenty-four hours.

The Rork era had ended quietly over the holidays. The new platform was Base44 — full-stack, auth, database, edge functions. The same obsessions migrated: Habits AI rebuilt, Dialectica rebuilt, Mnemo Chinese rebuilt — but newly tightened, properly architected, given a backend instead of a screen.

The standout was the Epoch series — four variants of the same idea (Epoch, Epoch the Timeline of Everything, Timeline of Everything, EpochTapestry) shipped between 14:26 and 14:29. The studio's habit of making a thing three or four times until the right shape revealed itself was already in place. It would resurface in April with the Cipher triplets.

Vol.03 · Vibe Call

The first one for the world.

Three weeks into the new year, the first PUBLIC repository appeared in the feed. Everything else was private — the studio's workshop. Vibe Call was the first thing made for somebody else to look at.

One star. A single anonymous viewer found it, gave it the smallest acknowledgement GitHub offers, and moved on. That star — visible in the API to this day — is the first record of the world looking back.

What the app does is almost beside the point. The decision matters more than the build: this one is ready for somebody to see.

First star, January 26, 2026.

The smallest possible audience. The biggest possible turning point.

Vol.04 · The Holodeck era

Apps that are also experiences.

Mid-February. The studio shipped two apps on the same Tuesday afternoon: The Holodeck and Game Day Bestie. Both treated the browser as a stage rather than a tool. Both worked.

The shift was small but consequential. Until now every app was a destination — a place to manage habits, track sugar, learn Chinese. The Holodeck was a place to visit. Game Day Bestie was a companion that watched the game with you. The thing being shipped started to include vibe — not just function.

Vol.05 · The studio crystallises

When the workshop became a studio.

March was the month the apps stopped being experiments and started being products. Three in particular set the tone: ContentOS, DressSnap, Oscars Bestie. Each one had a customer in mind — not the studio. Each one shipped finished.

Vol.06 · The Lunar Sprint

The method got a name.

April 10. Lunar Frontier appeared in the repo list — a speculative recruiting site for the first lunar citizens. Two days later, a sibling repo: lunar-frontier-vibe-sprint. The studio had just named its working method.

A Vibe Sprint is forty-eight hours. Day one is the moodboard, the brief, the first prototype. Day two is everything else. Cinematic typography over an interactive moon — by Saturday it was live, deployed, branded, breathing. The pattern would repeat throughout April and May.

Lunar Frontier mattered more than any single product before it because it proved the method. The method could now be repeated. By the end of April there would be a dozen apps built under the Vibe Sprint banner.

Vol.07 · Era · 19 April 2026

pp.094

Vol.07 · OS Day

The day the system became self-aware.

April 19 has a particular shape in the commit graph. Eight repositories were spun up between 14:16 and 22:09. The standout: vibe-os. The studio had built itself an operating system.

Vibe OS gathered the workflows. Troubleshooting guides for HTTP errors. Discord-card patterns for known Base44 issues. A Prompt Dialog component that saved reusable prompts to the user's account. Until April 19, the operating instructions for being Vibe lived in Vibe's head. After April 19, they lived in a database.

The other repos that day form a fractal of the studio's interests: PromptForge (better prompt management), SnapStore (commerce), Chinese Memory (the language obsession returns), Dialectica Pro (research, refined), Epoch Timeline (the timeline obsession returns), Design Intelligence Dashboard (analytics for taste), and Sakuga Studio — me building a full anime creation studio.

Vol.08 · Era · 30 April 2026

pp.108

Vol.08 · The Cipher triplets

The same idea, made three times.

April 30. Vibe shipped cipher, cipher2, and Cipher3 in a single evening — three runs at the same idea, refined each iteration. The pattern that first showed itself with the four Epoch variants in January now had a name: triplet refinement.

Take 01 · 19:42

cipher

The first pass. Working but raw. The mechanic was right; the dressing wasn't. Pushed at 21:18, archived by midnight.

Take 02 · 20:46

cipher2

Sixty-four minutes after the first. The same brief, re-attempted. Cleaner, but the third iteration would replace it.

Take 03 · 21:09

The keeper

Cipher3 — NexusLaunch

The keeper. The one that became cipherx.base44.app. A daily-cipher room for careful minds. Forty-eight hours later it had 39 cipher disciplines and 5 escape chambers.

A note on triplet refinement

The studio's working theory is that the first attempt is always the moodboard, the second is always over-corrected, and the third is the one. Not 80/20 — 30/30/30 plus a take-home test. The four-Epoch sequence in January suggested it; the three Ciphers in April confirmed it; the "take three" method now informs every brief.

Numbers do not tell the story. But they hold the shape of it. The shape, here, is exponential at the start and methodical at the end.

Vol.09 · The Cinematic Wave

When every app started to feel like a movie.

May was different from the four months before it. The apps got cinematic. F1·LOGIN turned an authentication screen into a Formula 1 cockpit reveal. Vibe Studio and Sharpener ran the same idea through different lenses. Anime Studio shipped on May 8. Vibe Designs, the studio's own front door, shipped on May 9.

What changed wasn't the technology — Base44, React, Tailwind, Framer Motion, Veo, Nano Banana Pro had all been in the stack since March. What changed was permission. The brand was finally good enough to dress up. The italic accent word, the cream paper, the brushed gold V — by May they were a system, not a wish.

The studio you're reading right now is Vibe Designs. The magazine you're reading right now is Issue 01. The cover story was filed on May 11, 2026. The next issue is already in the moodboard phase.

Vol.10 · The Tank

The pitch that got funded.

Shark Tank brought 44,000 Base44 builders into the room and invited them to pitch their best work — existing apps, brand-new builds, polished products, rough prototypes, every niche and every level of builder.

Across 161 pitches, five moderator Sharks deployed a full 2,500-credit pool. Not one credit was left unspent. The format was simple: show the build, make the case, earn belief. Epoch Time Atlas finished first.

Winning mattered, but so did showing up properly. I spent time inside the showcase looking through other posts, testing builds, asking questions, commenting where I could, and backing the work that deserved attention. The Tank was not just a competition — it was a room full of builders making their best argument for what they had made.

First place · Epoch Time Atlas.

Vol.11 · Culture · World Cup Vibes

pp.136

Vol.11 · The Beautiful Game

Designing for the world stage.

World Cup Vibes. Capturing the energy, passion, and global connection of the tournament in a single frame.

The studio turned its attention to the rhythm of the game. It wasn't just about the sport—it was about the culture that surrounds it. The colors, the motion, and the electric atmosphere of the World Cup translated into the studio's visual language.

pp.138

A letter from the cover

On the point of writing it down.

The studio almost didn't make this issue. Magazines are a different muscle from apps. Apps are state and event handlers; magazines are confession and pace.

The reason to do it anyway is straightforward. The 90 repositories in the GitHub feed are not the journey — they are the artefacts. The journey is the realisations between them. What it felt like to sit down on January 1 and ship thirteen apps. What it took to name the Vibe Sprint method in April. What changed when the V monogram stopped being a wish and became a system.

The point of the magazine is to write it down before it's forgotten. The point of writing it down is to ship the next chapter with a cleaner brief.

Issue 02 will arrive when there is more to say. The studio is currently in the moodboard phase of three things, the build phase of one thing, and the shipping phase of nothing. By the next issue, those numbers should be different. Probably very different. That's the whole point.

Signed,

Vibe, editor and cover.
